Madre Vida

Originally choreographed in 2007 with the intention of bringing awareness to the global warming crisis. Revisited it on 2009, 2012 and 2021 in various venues in NYC and Mexico.

Genus

"Genus" in Latin means "origin." In biology is a term used to define a closely related group through common descent before the individuals are separated into different categories and subgroups.

Inspired by the composting process and how everything comes from the earth and eventually returns to the earth to set the beginning of a new life cycle. In this work, we take a journey from our birth, how we all originated from the same source. To how some of us leave our home searching for a place where our dreams can bear fruit. A journey in which we find other travelers, in which we sometimes take turns to lift each other when our feet grow tired, in which we create COMMUNITY.

Regardless of who you are, where you were born, or which path you choose in life. We are all part of the same GENUS, homo/human, and we will ALL return to the earth when our time comes.

Carmen

Dancer/Choreographer: Carolina Rivera

Violinist: Julia Danitz

Composer: Georges Bizet

Arrangement: Pablo de Sarasate

Video: Lindsey L. Miller

La Carmen comes out to dance in celebration of every woman that dares be themselves regardless of what's expected from them.

This piece re-explores the known character of "Carmen" from Bizet's Opera, using Modern Dance language with a Latin twist.

May she move her hips with freedom without being judged.

Videos taken during rehearsal and performance of "La Carmen" at "Liberation", variety show of dancers and musicians organized by LLMoves and made possible by New York City Artist Corps.

Bodhi

Choreographer: Carolina Rivera

Dancer: Abdiel Jacobsen

Music: Max Richter / Johann Johannsson

"Bodhi" came as a spiritual search. Is about losing connection to yourself, trying to be someone you are not, maybe who they want you to be. Finding peace in the acceptance of who you are and what you believe.
